More about MAX

We at MAX are helping as many people as we can in the Macon County area. In January we were able to help about 120 families with about $3800 in assistance.  This assistance was in the form of dental and clothing vouchers, vision vouchers, bus cards, prescription help, and other specific needs. We are also the local site to check into Warm Neighbors/Cool Friends Program funding for power bill assistance in Macon and DeWitt Counties.
MAX funding comes from a mix of generous churches, individuals, foundations, and corporate grants.MAX would not exist without the support of so many great people and groups and volunteers.

For the month of March you can support MAX by eating at the Bob Evan's Restaurant.  Easy way to support the program!

Letter from the Executive Director of Dove, Inc.: Coordinating efforts to address unmet needs and social injustices.

Dear Friends,
Have you ever been a goat?A head-butting, territorial, grumpy goat?I know that I have, and it’s something that I have to actively work to overcome. How do we avoid those instincts? Matthew 25 instructs us that we should put away those goatish thoughts by giving food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, caring for the sick, and visiting the prisoner.
This December as we prepare for the celebration of the coming of our Lord, past and again, let us each look for ways to take care of the least of those amongst us.Support Dove, Inc. as we look to the future with volunteer services including Coats 4 Kids being distributed and Christmas Basket deliveries, service to our community through RSVP, BABES, MAX/DAX, and the Children’s Clothing Room, as well as our programs to shelter those touched by domestic violence and house the homeless.

Letter from the Executive Director of Dove, Inc.: Coordinating efforts to address unmet needs and social injustices.

Dear Friends,
“It was a tumultuous time. Marginalized people continued their fight for equality.  A “New Right” mobilized in defense of political conservatism and traditional family roles, and the behavior of the President undermined many people’s faith in the good intentions of the federal government. “
The summary above struck me as I write this, because it is a summary of the year 1970 written for History.com. That was the year in which Dove, Inc. began. Forty-eight years later the names of the key players may have changed, but the national issues are largely the same. Human need is relational, and social injustice is still very much real.To quote another adage, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”
Ecclesiastes 1:9 tells us this is so, and to some this might seem like a message of defeat. However, I see it as a message of hope for all who are touched by Dove’s service.Because in the past 48 years, we have impacted thousands of individual lives for the better. We have…

Letter from the Executive Director of Dove, Inc.: Coordinating efforts to address unmet needs and social injustices.

Dear Friends,
It is with great joy that we share during Domestic Violence Awareness month two incredible donations and our plan going forward to be certain that the needs of victims of domestic violence are being met in our community. As you likely know from the news, the Domestic Violence Program at Dove, Inc. was in dire straits at the end of last fiscal year.Due to a generous donation from the James Millikin Estate to cover part of shelter staff salaries we were able to proceed into FY18 without additional staff and service cuts. Then a further generous donation from the Howard G. Buffet Foundation for the Domestic Violence Program has positioned us to plan for how we can look at our overall funding structure as we move forward in this next era of budgeting.
One of our strong desire in this situation is to be good stewards of the work which the Lord has given us to do.While the generous donations just mentioned carry us through the current financial situation, we hope to build local fu…
